Environmental Experience Designer

John Thomas Design is an environmental graphics and branding design firm based in Nashville, Tennessee that primarily works with college athletic department teams as well as professional teams including the Tennessee Titans.

John Thomas Design is looking for a highly creative, team-first, senior environmental experience designer to join our team and help elevate our work. The ideal candidate will display a portfolio that showcases their ability to design holistically within the built environment, think critically to deliver a design solution and be a self-motivated team player.

Experience, Skills, Knowledge

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field with at least three years of experiential graphic design/experiential branding experience
• A portfolio that demonstrates a great understanding of branding, typography, and stylized sports graphics
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• Comfortable working in SketchUp
• Ability to communicate ideas and design effectively with the Creative Director
• Working knowledge of large format printing and core materials (vinyl, acrylic, laminates,
• fabricated signs)
• Ability to work in an office setting, and remote

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to render in Enscape
• Working knowledge of floor plans, shop drawings, and other architectural drawings
• Ability to present designs in a client-facing manner
• A good understanding of the college and professional sports landscape

Responsibilities

• Report to the Creative Director
• Work closely with clients, Creative Director, Project Manager, and other design leads, coordinate and integrate displays and graphics into engaging experiences
• Play a key role in creating visuals to communicate the design intent of the space
• Participate in conceptual development and illustrate concepts through hand sketching and computer renderings
• Develop holistic designs (environmental experience, interior finishes, graphics, casework) across all phases of a project
• Maintain a workflow in accordance with the project timeline, while working on multiple tasks
• Collaborate with other designers
• Design portions of a project, as well as full projects, of all sizes and budgets
• Gather research and inspiration to aid the design team in delivering concepts
• Create large-format graphics set up correctly for print based on site survey dimensions and final content
• Some travel will be required (Estimate 20 days per year)

• Hours: 40 hours a week, nothing more
• Vacation days per year: 20 (along with all major holidays, closed December 23rd through
  January 1)
• Health Insurance: JTD to cover 80% of healthcare
• Location: Nashville, TN preferred, remote is also an option
• Compensation: Negotiable
